A Country Garden
![]() |
"In the shadow of
mountains,
Lies a valley in the sun.
Where the beauty in a seed
Bursts forth in colored fountains.
Nature having fun.
In the hush of simple times
An old shed leans
Escaping the progress that would have it gone,
as our moving forward,
so sadly often means.
No form, no plan, just seeds,
Ideas, thrown to earth in the wind
What comes up, of no concern
Fruits, flowers, even weeds
Bear a gift of beauty, not needs.
Butterflies gather, humming birds feed.
Lazy ole cat wanders and stalks.
And melons rest waiting to share the sweet
'Mongst the river rocks, scattered,
that form the walks.
Miracles, always, for any to see
Whenever they might.
Take but a moment in day's high sun
Or in quiet of a moonlit night
Country gardens, a rest from the run."
