Deer and Lilacs

Deer drinking from a pond

Always loved lilacs, the deep purple ones.  Seems they carried the very essence of scent itself.  I envision a deer back when the wood was yet silent; life just beginning and simple. The timid  deer, providing the eyes to see and the  heart for Nature's quest for an evolution beyond simple blossoms.  Eyes to absorb the quaint purple beauty, the quest to be aware of it. Now the elegant creature languishes for only a moment, nose quivering and pushing tiny rivulets in the waves of scented air. She breathes in, slowly, the essence of what she once was, and will be again.  Then, she ambles sadly, into the noise . . . .

Inspired by a friend . . . and a deer.
